Sayeret Egoz

Formed in 1995 Sayeret Egoz is the IDF Special Forces specialist counter-guerilla unit.

It is attached to the Golani and as such has benefited from the experience and expertise of Palsar Golani in Southern Lebanon.

As the unit was required to be operational very soon after its formation the unit was created around a core of personnel from other elite IDF units such as Palsar T'zanhanim, Sayeret Matkal and Shayetet 13.

With the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanon, and the increase in low intensity conflict in the Territories, Egoz has found itself heavily committed to this new area of operations. It still maintains a presence on the northern Israeli border.
