Demi-Brigade de Parachutistes SAS - 1946

The Demi-Brigade de Parachutistes SAS (DBPSAS) was formed from volunteers after the 2eme RCP (former WW2 French SAS units) was disbanded. With other members coming from units such as the Commandos de France the DBPSAS had a high number of experienced combat troops.

As with other units sent early on to Indochina it was equipped with a variety of uniforms and equipment from both UK and US sources.

Our figure is wearing a US Herringbone Twill (HBT) coverall, a very popular garment. His headwear is the British felt jungle hat.

His webbing is from US sources and includes M36 pattern belt, suspenders, canteen and dressing pouch. His backpack is a British 37 pattern small pack.

His boots are the US M43 "Buckle" boots.

He is armed with a US M1 Carbine, US 1911A1 pistol and a Fairburn-Sykes fighting knife (maybe a souvenir of his previous service in 2RCP or 3RCP during WW2).

The binoculars are British.
